I'm Amer Khan — a B.Tech Cybersecurity student at Sphoorthy Engineering College, on a deliberate path toward becoming a SOC Analyst. My focus is on the Blue Team: monitoring, detecting, analyzing, and responding to threats before they escalate.
Every day is a log entry. Every project is a drill. I approach learning the same way a SOC team approaches an incident — methodically, patiently, and with full focus.
Began formal education in cybersecurity fundamentals, networking, OS, and cryptography.
Completed labs on network protocols, packet analysis, and Linux administration.
Shifted focus toward monitoring, threat detection, SIEM workflows, and log analysis. Started building real projects.
Actively preparing for the Security+ certification — covering threat management, cryptography, identity, and network security.
Graduating and stepping into my first SOC Analyst role. Target: CCNA + advanced SIEM certifications.
Covering network security, threats, cryptography, identity & access, and risk management.
Networking fundamentals, routing & switching, security basics.
Incident response, digital forensics, threat intelligence, SIEM.
Analytical projects demonstrating detection mindset, pattern recognition, and security awareness.
Detects manipulated or forged images using Error Level Analysis (ELA) and metadata inspection — exposing inconsistencies invisible to the human eye.
Machine learning model that identifies anomalous claim patterns in insurance data — paralleling how SOC analysts detect behavioral anomalies in network traffic.
Geolocation-based trust scoring system that flags high-risk origins for incoming connections by cross-referencing IP addresses with threat intelligence feeds.
Fan prediction platform leveraging historical data, team form, player stats, and venue profiles to generate AI-powered match predictions for IPL 2026.
Collection of Python scripts for parsing, filtering, and analyzing system and network logs to surface suspicious patterns.
Bash and Python scripts for real-time network traffic monitoring, port scanning detection, and alerting on anomalous connections.
Hands-on lab exercises for Linux system administration, file permissions, process management, and hardening techniques.
A platform where I break down cybersecurity concepts and document my journey towards becoming a SOC Analyst. In-depth explanations, real-world scenarios, and honest learning logs — designed for students entering the field.
Breaking down Security Information and Event Management tools — how they collect, correlate, and alert on security data.
SOC FundamentalsA practical walkthrough of Windows Event Logs and Linux syslog — identifying indicators of compromise in real log data.
Log AnalysisDocumenting my honest journey — what I studied, what worked, what didn't, and the roadmap I'd recommend for aspiring SOC analysts.
Career PathWhether you're a recruiter, a fellow learner, or someone interested in Blue Team security — my inbox is always open. Let's talk cybersecurity.
